Where to paste it

In the App Designer, press Get my app, then Build my app. Step 1 is this one: paste the token into the Expo access token field and press Connect. You do this once; every app you build afterwards uses the same connection.

We check it with Expo straight away. It is kept encrypted, never shown again, and you can disconnect it at any time.

With a robot

A robot is a helper account that can only make projects and builds. It cannot sign up for paid services or change who has access, and you can remove it in one click. This way starts by creating a free organization for the robot, so it takes longer.

  1. Create a free Expo account. Email, Google, GitHub or Apple all work. expo.dev/signup
  2. Click your username at the top of the menu, choose Create Organization, name it (your business name is fine) and press Create. The robot will belong to this organization, and organizations are on Expo's free plan.
  3. With the organization selected, open Access tokens, under Credentials in the sidebar.
  4. Press Add robot. Name it opointo, choose the Developer role and press Create robot.
  5. On the robot, press Create token. Name it opointo and press Generate new token.
  6. Copy the token and paste it into the App Designer, in the Expo access token field.Expo shows it only once.

If Expo refuses the token

Expo did not accept this token. Check that you copied all of it, and that it has not been revoked on Expo.

Disconnecting

In the App Designer, under Build my app, press Disconnect Expo. The token is deleted on our side at once. To stop it working on Expo's side too, delete it under Access tokens on expo.dev.

Expo's own pages

Checked against Expo's docs on 3 Oct 2026, from: Expo: programmatic access; Expo: account types, roles and creating an organization; Expo: pricing (the free plan's builds); StackOne: the Add robot and Create token screens, step by step. Expo changes its screens from time to time; if a button here has moved, tell us and we will check this page first.
